Christchurch is about to get a paintball centre unlike anything they’ve seen before. IPG are excited almost beyond words about representing the world’s largest paintball games provider in the Canterbury region. You may have already seen us out and about selling tickets for the high-voltage action this new field will bring to the region. The lucky players who have already purchased their entry to a day of paintballing they will not soon forget, won’t be waiting long to hit the game zones either. The last two centres this company opened in Canada went from bare dirt to open and awesome in under three weeks. The Christchurch centre will spring forth into life in a similar time frame. Don’t be fooled though, with over 40 centres worldwide they know how to build paintball centres. There will be no compromise on quality either, as safety and user experience are paramount to their policy.

Ticket holders can expect to hit the combat zones in early March where they will experience the best paintballing offers. This is a company that attracts the likes Usain Bolt, Princes Harry and William, F1 championship winning drivers Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button because they want to play at the best paintball centres available. Usain travels from Jamaica to Australia to play with Delta Force because “They have nuthin’ like this in Jamaica ma’an!”

The centre will open with features such as an on-site kiosk and toilets set in a base-camp area complete with picnic tables. The movie-themed game zones (which will be added to over time as well) will be loaded with professionally built structures. Players will be given specific tasks and challenges per team as they smash through the graveyards of Resident Evil or the enemy village of Tropic Thunder. They’ll find themselves engaging in the fuel depot landscape of Speedball in an unstoppable game of total annihilation before heading off to other game zones as well. This is as good as it gets!

It is in these unpredictable and uncertain times when a good strategy is needed most. But it is more than just having a good strategy and solid tactics that (on paper) should win you the game.

You need a leader. Someone who your team will turn to in times of turmoil, who has the confidence to keep a level-head yet not be too ambitious and someone who can stick to a plan but think quick if things go pear-shaped. It is this leader who will be most important to the success of your paintball adventure.

The next part of your strategy is about your team. There are many things that you and your team can do before the start of a paintball game to greatly increase your chances of winning.

It’s important to have a battle plan before a game starts and here are some handy tactics that can help you put together an effective strategy:

Walk the field: On your way to the starting point, take a moment to survey the game zone and try to pin point areas of tactical importance, routes to take that provide plenty of cover and bunkers that you can retreat to if need be. As you’re walking through the game zone ask yourself which position will you take first and where do you think the enemy will likely go? If everyone in your team does some mental preparation and shares their opinions with the rest of the team then you will stand a much better chance of winning.

Plan who will be doing what: Think of it in terms of rugby positions; Forwards, defenders, wingers etc. then democratically decide which position everyone should take based on their strengths.

Communication with your team: If you’re going to be using any hand signals in the game, discuss them before the whistle blows or it may lead to some confusion.

Safety checks: Possibly the most important precaution to take before the start of a paintball game. No quality paintball centre allows players into the games without their goggles being properly fastened but it’s always a good idea to double check that your fastenings are secured, the lid on your hopper is shut properly, your battle pack is strapped on tightly and the safety switch on your marker is on right until the game starts. It’s always best to be over-prepared than not prepared at all.

These are just a few of many tactics that will help your chances of being victorious on your next paintball adventure.

Shipped in a 40 foot container from its top secret manufacturing facility, the stunning replica boasts some staggering dimensions. It is over 15 metres long, 3 metres wide, has a 16 metre rotor span and weighs about 2 tonnes. It can hold up to 15 paintball?ready troops.

When asked why Delta Force would invest in a life size Black Hawk replica, Managing Director Mr Leon Bubenicek, replied

“This Disneyland?quality prop elevates the paintball experience to a whole new level unseen in Australia. We pride ourselves on being a world leader in the paintball industry and that means providing the next generation in facilities, equipment and safety standards at every one of our centres.”

Delta Force Paintball has been operating in the UK for over 23 years, but only made its Australian launch in 2009. Delta Force recognised a need in the leisure industry for quality outdoor entertainment facilities and powered ahead within three short years to open 5 showcase centres around the country. Two more are due for completion before the end of 2012 and a centre in Auckland, New Zealand was also opened in 2011. These centres are like no others seen in Australia.
